Whatever Works
As it states Woody Allen’s rom com – Whatever Works. We all have our big plans and ambitions, our aspirations and high expectations but life has its own. And most of the cases they override ours.
So plans are just wishes.
We live in our own bubble with our self-image somehow carefully devised by our culture and family’s values, beliefs, their imaginary plans and aspirations. But they are all wishes and attempts to put the world and society in frames to make it more manageable. As they just don’t capture it.
Traditional family? Most of the families are actually not a wife and a husband with their three kids, a house and two cars. Most of the couples are not loyal. Moral is disputable for almost everyone. Parents are not Gods. Business does not always care about human values. Smartest guy does not always end up with the smartest girl. Most hardworking people are not the ones who get the best reward and recognition.
Is that unfair? Is that imperfection? Could be. But it is as it is. We try to do the best that we can. Does it help to feel pain when the world does not turn up to your expectations? Could be, in moderations. They say pain is the fuel of growth, though I don’t really like that thought.
Whatever works.
Let the world be as imperfect as it is. Interfere when it feels right and let it be. It is and it will be. Enjoy the ride. As I don’t think that there too many good options. Sometimes you don’t have the control although the deep desire to have it. Sometimes, whatever you do does not make a change. And when it is like that that you can’t really make the difference that you want to see in the world, that you can’t achieve the perfect setup that you’ve dreamt of no matter how hard you try,
Take a deep breath,
Feel the love in your heart and soul,
Smile,
Look around,
Relax,
and just wait.
Whatever works. Life surprises us. Miracles are all around us. Maybe it is this framed mindset that have stopped us from seeing them. Try to put down all the aspirations and stereotypes you’ve been taught to live by. Because maybe that is the lesson that comes to you in such moments – that they are merely not the truth.
The unspoken, the unseen, the unrealised is much more than what we see and know. Stay open. And with all the love in your heart, at least for a while, accept:
Whatever works.
