little vs. much
Stuff, stuff, stuff… I am constantly trying to declutter and when it feels nice and neat.., we start to pile up again. My mind is constantly swamped as new staff keeps flowing in. I feel that I spend all my time cluttering and decluttering. It is a loop. A trap. I want to go out. I want my mental freedom back. I want space to think about ideas, not about stuff.
I have never been into looking for inspiration at immaculate minimalist homes, actually I prefer a Parisian ornamented look more. But we live with a small kid in a small apartment and I yearn for this minimalist feel now. It projects content – the “enough” state is finally found, mind is free, stuff is not the ruler any more. You own your time again. I guess I am not alone as obviously scandi-inspired homes are trendy in 2023. But minimalism is not in the look, it is a feeling, a state of mind. And I feel that many just copy the look while the mindset is missing. So how can one cultivate a true minimalist mindset?
I am perfectly aware that more stuff won’t make my child happier or my day more engaging. But still I accumulate it. How to break that loop?
